Kathleen Joy embarked upon her final earthly journey at 3:15 Sunday morning, September 25. A split-second later she crossed the threshold into glory, basking in the welcoming, loving arms of Jesus. Her long battle with cancer, a forging of her spirit to reflect God’s grace and goodness, came to an end. Cancer did not defeat her; it was the vehicle that brought her closer to God and gave her the insight to comfort and encourage those around her. Her blogging friend Ellen aptly summarized what it was like to know Kathy, writing: “When I’m with Kathy I feel like I’ve spent some time with Jesus. Those who suffer much reflect Him more…”
Although she did suffer, she rarely complained, but rather turned her trials into something positive. As her blog title shows, she claimed James 1: 2-4 as her life verse …“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” She more than claimed that verse; she embraced it and personified her middle name with humble courage.
Kathy leaves behind a wealth of memories and enriched and changed lives – a precious gift to all who knew her. Her loving sister Jeaneen and husband Bill (aka “Cute Boy”) stand with of a vast number of friends and relatives that will greatly miss her. Although we now own a void that will be difficult to fill, we are grateful for the privilege of having known her, her victory over cancer, and the anticipation of fellowshipping with her once again. Well done good and faithful servant.
Thank you, Blogging Community for so enriching Kathy’s life …. Bill, sometimes known as “Cute Boy”
Hi. It’s Kathy here and I’m not sure where to start. I last posted on July 30! I have a lot to share so I’ll start at the beginning.
I went into emergency on August 2 with a fever. I knew my blood counts were dangerously low. From what I’ve been told, I had trouble breathing, was intibated, in ICU with a bacterial infection and kidneys that weren’t functioning but I don’t remember any of that. Because of God’s great mercy, I survived, and was able to come home on August 16th. I am in a hospice program but we continue to see strength and improvement each week.
Cute boy is my care giver and so much more. He has been stretched to do things we never imagined and through God’s support he is doing it all with a sense of humor and a capable attitude. My sister was with Cute boy throughout my hospital stay and my first week home. I call them my team. She has spent many more days here to give cute boy a break even though she had just moved into a new house and has much unpacking to do to get settled. We love it when she is here, she is so dear to me.
It has been so long since I posted that I wonder if everyone has given up on my blog. I think I will post more often now although my life is confined to this house and my blog will be different. More later.
Moment By Moment
Moment by moment I’m kept in His love;
Moment by moment I’ve life from above;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.
Never a trial that He is not there,
Never a burden that He doth not bear,
Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
Moment by moment, I’m under His care.
Never a heartache, and never a groan,
Never a teardrop and never a moan;
Never a danger but there on the throne,
Moment by moment He thinks of His own.
Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
Jesus my Savior, abides with me stil

It is July 28th and I just picked my first big tomato. We have had handfuls of cherry tomatoes but this is an “Early Girl” and she is very late this year!!
Cute boy has been off work for vacation but it wasn’t the kind of vacation we planned for. Because of construction going on at the mountain house we are not there, and it has been a not too relaxing time because of an accumulation of issues, family/friend/and other…..
He has tackeld some projects around the house. The sticky front door is fixed, we have a new light fixture in the bathroom and he has worked on an order of new doors for the house. Today when it is 100 degrees, he is in the garage building pegboards while I choose to stay in the air-conditioned house.
My kitchen NEVER looks like this. This looks kind of like a hospital right now all stripped of everything. Cute boy sealed the granite here and on the island. It is drying. In this heat nothing takes long to dry!!
Hope it is cooler where you are.
After church this morning we found a box on the patio containing this.
And not just the dutch oven but these also!
In response to my post “phooey“, my friend Jan gifted me with these. She said she bought them at a garage sale and has never used them. Her thoughts were that this was a chance to clean out a closet!
Wow Jan. Above and beyond in the thoughtful gesture department.
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion-
For more than conquerors we are!
His Word shall not fail you-He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Pi- neer woman had a give away of three of these Le Creuset pots. A woman who won one of the pots had my answer. She won with my answer. Phooey. Well it is a random drawing. But for some reason I keep thinking I have a chance (along with the 40,000 other people who enter)
The last time I wrote a post like this it was for a red Kitchenaid mixer. And lo and behold, my sweet thoughtful cute boy read my blog and gave me the red mixer for my birthday.
Dear Cute Boy, I don’t want this enough for you to buy me one! Do not. Too much money, and I entered the give away on a whim.
Love, Kathy b
